Governors Must Speak Up: APC Leader Pushes Stronger Communication of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Achievements

A senior figure within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on governors elected under the party to step up efforts in communicating the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerians, warning that a lack of clear information is weakening public understanding of the administration’s progress.

Speaking on the current state of governance and public perception, the APC chieftain expressed concern that many citizens remain unaware of key policies, reforms, and projects being implemented at the federal level. According to him, this communication gap is not due to a lack of performance, but rather a failure to effectively relay government actions to the people.

He explained that while the Tinubu administration has embarked on significant economic and structural reforms, these efforts are often misunderstood or overlooked because they are not properly explained in simple and relatable terms. As a result, many Nigerians are left to rely on speculation, misinformation, or incomplete narratives.

The party leader emphasized that governors play a critical role in addressing this issue. Being closer to the grassroots, they are in a unique position to translate federal policies into practical terms that citizens can easily understand. He urged them to take ownership of this responsibility by engaging more actively with their communities, organizing public forums, and using local media platforms to highlight the impact of government initiatives.

According to him, governance is not only about implementing policies but also about ensuring that people understand the purpose and benefits of those policies. He noted that when citizens are well-informed, they are more likely to support government actions, even in challenging times.

The APC chieftain also pointed out that effective communication can help counter the spread of misinformation, which has become increasingly common in today’s digital age. He warned that when the government fails to tell its own story, others may fill the gap with distorted or misleading accounts that shape public opinion negatively.

He further called for a more coordinated communication strategy across all levels of government. In his view, federal and state authorities must present a unified message that clearly reflects the administration’s goals and achievements. This, he said, would not only improve public confidence but also strengthen the overall image of the party.

In addition, the party stalwart encouraged governors to go beyond mere statements and adopt more practical approaches to communication. He suggested that showcasing real-life examples of how government policies are improving lives would make a stronger impact than general political messaging. For instance, highlighting infrastructure projects, social programs, and economic initiatives at the community level could help people see tangible results.

The call comes at a time when Nigeria is undergoing major economic adjustments, including policy changes that have sparked both support and criticism from different segments of society. Observers believe that how well these policies are communicated could significantly influence public acceptance and long-term success.

Political analysts have also noted that public perception plays a crucial role in governance. Even well-intentioned reforms can face resistance if they are not clearly explained or if people do not understand their long-term benefits. This makes communication an essential tool, not just for political survival, but for effective leadership.

The APC leader concluded by urging party members at all levels to remain proactive in engaging with Nigerians. He stressed that leadership requires constant interaction with the people, listening to their concerns, and providing clear and honest information about government actions.

As the Tinubu administration continues to navigate economic and political challenges, the emphasis on communication may prove to be a decisive factor in shaping how Nigerians view its performance. Whether governors will heed this call and take a more active role in bridging the information gap remains to be seen, but the message is clear: achievements alone are not enough if they are not effectively communicated to the people.
